GI@MED - Electronic organization of agricultural schools with geoinformation technologies for the promotion of convergent strategies in the management of rural regions, water resources and the environment in the South-Eastern Mediterranean

Short term objectives

The electronic organisation of involved agricultural schools and organisations according to European models.

The training of researchers and professionals in exemplary practices, related with the use of geoinformation technologies for the support of decision-making and management of water resources, as well as other vital agricultrural issues, as mentioned previously.

The provision of modern tools, expertise and support with regard to the agricultural sector and the environment, in governmental and non-governmental representatives and decision recipients, aiming at the orientation of their activities in the sustainable management and development of the South-Eastern Mediterranean regions.

The planning and development of relative geoinformation databases, which will contain data for land use and environmental, economic and demographic data.

The development of a common digital knowledge base in support of decision-making processes that will allow the study of alternative scenarios for the management of water resources and land use in the agricultural sector.

The development of an internet service (digital multifunctional centre) for the period and for the period following project’s completion, which will provide information, digital tools of data analysis, and consultancy support to the interested institutions and public organizations.
