Collaboration development of agricultural schools initially between Greece and Egypt and later the development of a network of regional collaboration between South-eastern Mediterranean countries and Arabic states for the promotion of the modern geoinformation technology application in the agricultural sector.
Development of experience and abilities with the improvement of existing knowledge in geoinformation applications in the agricultural sector (standardisation with the European models).
Improvement of material (supplies of mechanical parts, software and equipment) of the involved foreign institutions for the developement of modern digital data management systems, the development of models and decision-making support systems.
Establishment of a field laboratory for the collection of data with modern methods of georeferencing, compatible with the equipment and the possibilities of upgrading electronic agricultural schools, as well as for the verification and the validitation of results of proposed rural applications/ practices.
Harmonisation of methods and practices of water resource management and agricultural exploitations in the Eastern Mediterranean Basin.
Improved know-how in the use of territorial information for the rationalized exploitation and protection of water resources, the forecast of potential epidemics in order to decrease the use of pesticides and the confrontation of dersertified land.
Increase of public sensitivity and awareness for the application of digital technology in the planning and management of agriculture and the environment.
The internet service, which will place the results of the network for the disposal of interested institutions. The support and the continuous provision of consultancy following project’s completion will guarantee the viability and continuation of the network in the future.
