The project
GI@MED aims at the creation of a Greek-Egyptian bilateral axis for the promotion of applications of modern geoinformation technology in the sectors of Agriculture and the Environment in the South-eastern Mediterranean. The cooperation network between research Institutes and the development/ upgrade of digital infrastructures in Egypt will contribute in the better management of land, water resources, the follow-up of fields and the decision-making. The training and exchange of knowledge will benefit researchers and professionals, resulting in the capacity enhancement of the research institutions, government owned institutions and small to medium-sized enterprises. New working places of higher specialization will be created for young person’s independent of gender. In the long run benefit will also reach the wider base of the rural population.
